Elsight’s unmanned connectivity platform aggregates all available communications channels for a new defense CONOPS
SCHONDORF, Germany – OR YEHUDA, Israel, Dec. 10, 2024 tukom and Elsight (ASX:ELS) today announced a partnership to bring battlefield-proven, portable wireless communications to the DACH region optimized for UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) and UGVs (unmanned ground vehicles).
Located and active in the DACH region, tukom is dedicated to delivering best-in-class solutions and consulting services in the fields of telemetry, aerospace, and defense.
Elsight has designed and developed a lightweight, highly reliable communications system known as Halo. After several successful years in the commercial market, Halo has been optimized for its non-line-of-sight (NLOS) capabilities. By aggregating multiple IP links from public and private cellular, satellite, and RF channels, the Halo provides securely bonded, uninterrupted C2, telemetry and video communications even in the most challenging environments.
tukom CEO, Matthias Brechmann said, “Today’s CONOPS require a new set of capabilities to maintain communications throughout volatile terrains while being portable for all types of field operations. We view this partnership with Elsight as strategic in providing our customers with innovative connectivity given the changing military landscape.”
tukom offers expert sales, service, training, and consulting for the leading military-grade platforms across various industries including aerospace, defense, and telecommunications. tukom’s range of applications extends over the whole telemetry process, from data acquisition, the transfer and storage of telemetry data, data processing, and analysis.
Yoav Amitai, CEO of Elsight, commented, “Given tukom’s knowledge base and experience in military-grade telemetry communications, they are the perfect partner to spearhead the penetration of the DACH market for our Halo and other connectivity products. Elsight excels in the development of highly reliable, secure wireless communication systems that fulfill many extreme requirements for performance, reliability and the surrounding environment. We are excited to work with tukom, helping them to expand their footprint in the region.”
FAQs
1. What is Elsight Halo, and what capabilities does it provide for UAV and UGV operations?
Halo is a multilink BVLOS connectivity platform designed for unmanned and autonomous systems operating in complex and contested environments. It provides resilient command and control, telemetry, video, and data transmission for UAV and UGV missions by aggregating multiple communication networks into a single reliable connection. Halo supports ISR, tactical logistics, perimeter security, autonomous operations, and long range NLOS/BVLOS missions.
2. Which connectivity channels does Halo aggregate, and how does it support NLOS/BVLOS missions?
Halo aggregates LTE, 5G, mesh, Wi-Fi, and satellite communication links into a single resilient communication layer. The platform continuously monitors network quality and dynamically reroutes traffic across the best available links to maintain operational continuity during NLOS/BVLOS missions. This multilink architecture helps reduce the risk of communication loss in remote, urban, contested, or degraded environments.
3. What are the SWaP requirements for integrating Halo into compact tactical drones?
Halo is designed with low SWaP (Size, Weight, and Power) requirements to support compact tactical drones and autonomous platforms with limited payload and power capacity. The compact, 93-gram, palm-sized hardware features a ruggedized architecture and low power consumption, minimizing impact on flight endurance while supporting multiple simultaneous communication links, resilient BVLOS connectivity, and mission-critical data transmission.
4. What certifications and security features does Halo have for military-grade use?
Halo supports AES-256-CBC encryption, VPN tunneling, multilink traffic distribution, and resilient communication architectures designed for mission-critical operations. Halo has also been selected for multiple defense and BVLOS programs, demonstrating secure, resilient connectivity for mission-critical uncrewed operations. The platform has passed rigorous military testing, is NDAA-ready, and is listed on the DCMA Blue UAS Cleared List. Halo is battlefield-proven, with hundreds of thousands of operational flight hours in contested and electronic warfare (EW) challenged environments across military and commercial deployments.
5. How does Halo support centralized remote operations and distributed command structures?
Halo supports centralized remote operations through Elsight’s AllSight management platform, which provides real-time remote monitoring, connectivity management, and operational visibility across distributed unmanned systems. AllSight enables operators and command centers to monitor network performance, prioritize traffic, manage multiple vehicles remotely, and maintain continuous situational awareness across large operational areas. Combined with Halo’s resilient multilink connectivity, the platform supports distributed command structures, coordinated multi-platform missions, and scalable remote fleet operations in dynamic environments.
